CENIOS Lyme

CENIOS Lyme

The CENIOS Lyme Test is a rapid immunochromatographic test of animals after infection with Borrelia. It enables precise detection of antibodies against the Borrelia burgdorferi antigen, which can be found in the blood of dogs and cats.

Lyme borreliosis describes an infectious disease that can be triggered by specific Borrelia bacteria. These Borrelia belong to the genus “Borrelia burgdorferi“. The disease is one of the most common infectious diseases caused by Borrelia bacteria. On average, every third tick has bacteria of Lyme disease.

The probability of infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria after a tick bite is relatively high. If a tick bite has occurred, an infection should be considered.

Approximately 5 to 20 % of dogs living in Germany have Borrelia antibodies in their blood. This means that they are either infected or have been infected in the past. If a dog has been bitten by a tick with Borrelia burgdorferi, symptoms such as dullness or loss of appetite may occur. These symptoms usually appear four to six weeks after infection.

With the CENIOS LymeBo test, an infection can be detected reliably and at an early stage. The rapid test only shows field antibodies. Vaccine antibodies are not indicated, so that a false positive test result can be excluded with a high degree of probability. Testing a few weeks after the tick bite is recommended, as the field antibodies are formed with a delay.
